Jakarta, NU Online
The Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) strongly condemned an attack on Al-Idrisiyah Islamic boarding school (pesantren) Cisayong Tasikmalaya by a group of organizations.<>

The NU wing organization said those who commotted the violent act could disrupt the existence of Islamic educational institutions.

"Any way, the action didn't reflect a cultured society regardless of its motives, as we are aware, anarchist actions and all kinds of self-judging are not allowed by law, more over this incident against an Islamic educational institution happened for the umpteenth time," chairman of IPNU Khairul Anam told NU Online recently.

Anam said any act of violence by a group of Islamic organizations could indirectly damage the image of pesantren as a whole. Pesantren known as a center of education, religion and culture having for centuries existed in the country has been adversely affected by the attack.

Ironically, the attack was committed by a group of Islamic organizations that must keep the existence and the dignity of pesantren. In particular, the offensive action will impact on the level of people's confidence towards pesantren and other educational institutions.

He added that pesantren, social organizations and many other Islamic communities must take into account of the importance of having moral and ethical standards in public life.

"We will raise solidarity among pesantren circles to condemn an attack on pesantren Al-Idrisiyah Tasikmalaya, he said.

He urged the government apparatus to crack down on any anarchist organization and demanded the police to prosecute perpetrators of the violence so that such insident could expectedly be a lesson in the future.
