Conflict and human tragedy still taking palce in some countries in the Middle East have raised concerns among international communities though the Middle East is a symbol of Islamic civilization.
Secretary General of the Lawmaking Body (Katib Aam) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, popularly known as Gus Yahya made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting here over the weekend.
"But what is currently taking place in the Middle East is a civilization of war," Gus Yahya said, adding there had been some considering that the war is not but part of industrialization of the global market and economic sustainability.
The son of NU prominent ulema (muslim scholars) KH M. Cholil Bisri explained the war had become a civilization long created since the fall of the Ottoman era. War proven to sacrifice many societies for the present becomes such a solution to any problem.
"The war turned out to be the solution of a social issue because there are some that are actually profiting from the war," Gus Yahya said.
According to Gus Yahya the war was in the time started from a trigger. Like an industry producing goods, war requires raw materials that could be sold and processed into a civilization of war.
"The raw material is called Islam," he said, adding that Islam was such a raw material in creating conflict and its implications.
"So the conflict has become an industry," explained Gus Yahya.
He encouraged the Islamic writers to sow the seeds of peaceful Islam in cyberspace by meticulously depicting existing social phenomena.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General of NU Masduki Baidlowi, Chairman of LTN NU Hari Usmayadi, Director of NU Online Savic Ali, editor-in-chief of NU Online Achmad Mukafi Niam, Aswaja TV Director H. Syaifullah Amin, and NU Online crew members. (Masdar)
