The secretary of the lawmaking body of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Yahya C. Tsaquf (Gus Yahya) said that Islamic radicalism had an agenda to take over the power to form a new state in accordance with their line of thoughts.<>
"Other movements will always reject even refer to people outside their group as infidels," GusYahya said on the sidelines of a public dialogue organized by Ansor Touth Movement and Fatayat NU in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology at the NU office of Dawe Kudus Central Java on Saturday (27/4).
Gus Yahya said that Islamic radicalism had become a very dangerous threat that must be dealt with and even NU as a moderate organization in the country would be lost.
Gus Yahya reiterated that the establishment of NU was as part of its effort to defend the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia from any theat posed by radical movements.
"It could be seen from from the NU symbol in which a rope circles the Indonesian earth," the son of the late KH Cholil Bisri said.
He said people could potentially be radical for feeling alienated and having problems instead of living in poor and vulnerable conditions.
He called on the Nahdliyin (NU followers) to keep both maintaining and preserving the NU long-standing tradition by holding a congregational prayer like the NU community.
