NU launched a white book "The NU - PKI Clash 1948-1965 " at the NU building on Monday (8/12). This book explains long series of events  since 1926 when it began to rebel and its relation to its rebellion in Madiun 1948 to 1965.<>

The writing team leader Abdul Mun'im DZ said, "The NU - PKI Clash" explains the 1965 tragedy from the NU's points of view, exploring and explaining what was experienced, thought, felt, and done by clerics (kiai), students (santri), and NU leaders in the face of PKI as a "bughot " subversive group."

This book, he said, was the NU's concern for there have been some accusing NU elements of being principal offenders in the 1965 events so-called G 30 S / PKI.

Periodically many groups have defended the PKI and instead blamed NU, especially Multipurpose Ansor Military Porsonnel (Banser). The groups were, among others,  Amnesty International and the International Court of Justice, the Deputy Secretary of NU said.

Because of the provocation, Mun'im continued, the Generel Chairman of Lawmaking Body (Rais Aam) of NU KH Sahal Mahfud confirmed three things, namely investigating who did it and what its motive, coordinating with elements in the military and doing something.

"Doing something is by writing a book to respond such provocation," he said.

Mun'im added, the book did not need to necessarily be published because there has been a reconciliation between PKI and NU elements naturally and culturally.

"This book seeks to rescue reconciliation that occurs naturally between PKI and NU," he said.

The launching opened by the Deputy General Chairman of NU H As'ad Said Ali was attended by two speakers, KH Chalid Mawardi and Kiki Syahnakri of the Retired Army Association (PPAD). The launching moderated by M Adnan Anwar was participated by hundreds of representatives of Islamic organizations, military, and cross-religious groups.
