The process of exchanging free homecoming ticket provided by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) was enthusiastically utilized by thousands of travelers to have NU identity cards (Kartanu) at the NU headquarters Jakarta on Saturday (25/6). Previously, the travelers registered themselves to have the ticket on Sunday (19/6).
On account of the enthusiasm, NU directly provided Kartanu registration forms to be filled by the travelers. They were so enthusiastic to fill the forms by utilizing the spaces on the ground floor of NU building.
The Nahdlatul Ulama Mosque Management Institute (LTM NU) as the organizer of this free homecoming from the beginning has been committed to facilitating the NU members (Nahdliyin) willing to return home to have the NU identity cards.
Related to the NU free homecoming program which has been ongoing since 2010, the Secretary of LTM NU Ibnu Hazen confirmed that NU would continue to serve its members who want to return home. In addition, he has also provided homecoming post in some 27 points from Banten to Banyuwangi.
This year, said Ibnu, NU held a free homecoming program by using buses and trains, adding that it was for the first time for NU to use the facilities of train.
"We're trying to do our best for the travelers who did not get the free homecoming tickets by buses, to remain able to return home by train. Even for the (travelers using) train, we have provided free round-trip tickets," Ibnu said on the sidelines of the homecoming ticket exchange process.
He explained that for travelers using the bus there were more than 1,700 travelers. Meanwhile, travelers using the train, there were about 800 travelers. Travelers using the train will depart on June 29, 2016 at Pasar Senen station. Meanwhile, for travelers using the bus will depart simultaneously on July 2, 2016 from the NU headuqarters.
