"There are about 15 public facilities to be built in the Islamic Center with a budget of nearly Rp 100 billion. Specifically for Cheng Ho Mosque, did not use regional budget funds," said Head of Department of Public Works, Housing and Building Control of Malang, Jarot Edi Sulistyono, Friday (30/10).

Jarot said the construction of Islamic Center over the next three years was expected to be multifunctional. Besides of being a place of worship, it could be also for religious tourism, because it is a special icon that could be an attraction.

The funds of Rp 100 billion was used to build a conference hall, Hajj dormitory, training rooms, and other supporting buildings.

Meanwhile, the mosque construction would spend around Rp 115 billion without using the Regional Budget. While, the architecture of mosque which would adopt Cheng Ho Mosque, he said, was still in the discussion process.

"Because the mosque is for the community, Malang Mayor Moch Anton will obtain funding from the community," Jarot added.

He said, one of the sources of funds that would be maximized was the funding of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Therefore, Malang city government would form a committee for it. (masdar)
