NU activists and Chinese association hold talk show

Commemorating the 86th youth Pledge Day, the Nahdlatul Ulama Institute for Human Resources Studies and Development (Lakpesdam NU), the Indonesian Islamic Students Movement (PMII) and the Indonesian Chinese Association (INTI) of Jombang held a joint gathering on Monday (27/10).<>

Their activities were packed with a talk-show, including Reflections of Youth Pledge at the Jombang's radio station (SWJ) building.

The event started at 20:00 and was atteded by such speakers as William Rahardja (INTI), Hasbiyallah Darajat (Lakpesdam NU), Mu'anam (the Department of Youth and Sports), Zulfikar Dawam Ikhwanto (Ansor Youth Movement), Agus Ahmad (the Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Association (ISNU), Ahmad Hussein (ICHDERE), and Ahmad Zani (the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI).

According to the chairman of Lakpesdam NU Jombang, the spirit of keeping the national integrity must be prioritized as such a unity of youth across the country.

He also insisted there should be support from the government to the efforts of youth in creating and developing themselves.

"There must be a synergy between the bureaucracy and the youth already having competence," he said.

On the occasion all the speakers also agreed that youth should take part in any nation-building effort.

"After all the youth should be involved in any development, even those coming from the smallest regions like villages," said Ahmad Zani.

The Zani's statement was also agreed by Gus Athok, the popular call for the Jombang's Ansor Yoth Movement, saying that the presence of the youth having competence should be given a room of self-actualization and involved in all aspects of development.
