President SBY to visit Jember

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to vist East Java district of Jember on Sunday to meet and to hold dialog with a group of local farmers, local administration spokesman DG Tarigan said here on Thursday.

In the afternoon, the president, accompanied by first lady Ani Yudhoyono and Agriculture Minister Anton Apriantono, would grant a development fund for the construction of a health service post at Al Qodiri Islamic boarding school.

<>Tarigan said President Yudhoyono’s visit to Jember next Sunday is part of his Ramadan safari in addition to having first hand information about the real condition of the local farmers.

During the visit, the president would also meet with local religious community figures, as well as General Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Hasyim Muzadi.

The next morning on Monday, Yudhoyono and his entourage would take a helicopter to Pamekasan, Madura, for the same purpose: Ramadan safari.

Meanwhile, Jember district head MZA Djalal made an unscheduled inspection on Thursday to Semboro sugar plant where the preparation is being made to welcome the president.

Djalal said Yudhoyono’s second visit to Jember after the first one when flash floods destroyed parts of Panti and Rambipuji on January this year would give the spirit to the local people for a better development in the future. (ind/ant)
