West Kalimantan will have NU university

West Kalimantan will soon have a university so-called Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU). Currently the committee has remained waiting for the release of an operating permit from the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti), Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). The much-awaited university will start enrolling new students next year.<>

"Some time ago, we conducted a hearing to the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti). We have fulfilled the entire administrative requirements. Now, The Dikti will set up a team to conduct a survey to West Kalimantan," secretary of the establishment committee, Jasmin Harris told here on Friday (14/12).

He said that when the team was sent to West Kalimantan to see directly the preparation of the UNU establishment, there would be an assessment before issuing an operating permit for the university.

"Following the issuance (of the operating permit), that's a new history for NU of West Kalimantan and a great history. That means NU also shows tremendous progress for the people of West Kalimantan. We hope, the permit will soon be issued," Jasmin sho is also secretary of Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers Association (Pergunu) of West Kalimantan said.

The Khulafaur Rashyidin Islamic boarding school (pesantren) located on JL. A. Yani will for temporarily be used as the UNU campus. "In the coming three years, the UNU of West Kalimantan will use the pesantren. After that, we will have our own campus. We have prepared land for the campus."
