Prayer after Adhan (call to prayers)

We always hear the call to prayer five times a day. In the meantime we are encouraged to recite a prayer after the adzan, as narrated by Bukhari below. The following prayer is read after the call to prayer, blessings and greetings of the Prophet:

 

 اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلاَةِ القَائِمَةِ آتِ سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّداً الوَسِيْلَةَ وَالفَضِيْلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَاماً مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ المِيْعَادَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِيْ صَغِيْرَا

 

Allāhumma rabba hādzihid dakwatit tāmmah, was shalātil qā’imah, āti sayyidanā muhammadanil wasīlata wal fadhīlah, wab‘atshu maqāmam mahmūdanil ladzī wa‘attah, innaka lā tukhliful mī’ād. Rabbighfir lī, wa li wālidayya, warham humā kamā rabbayānī shaghīrā.

 

"O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of). My Lord, forgive my sins and my parents (sins). Have mercy on them as they both loved me when I was little."

 

This prayer was narrated by sahabat Jabir in Sahih Bukhari.

 

 وعن جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنهما أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال من قال حين يسمع النداء اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة والصلاة القائمة آت محمدا الوسيلة والفضيلة, وابعثه مقاما محمودا الذي وعدته, حلت له شفاعتي يوم القيامة رواه البخاري في صحيحه

 

"From Jabi bin Abdullah ra, the Messenger of Allah said, 'Anyone who prays when he hears the call to prayer '‘Allāhumma rabba hādzihid dakwatit tāmmah, was shalātil qā’imah, āti muhammadanil wasīlata wal fadhīlah, wab‘atshu maqāmam mahmūdanil ladzī wa‘attah,’ my intercession will surely fall on him on the Day of Resurrection.' (Narrated by Bukhari),” (An-Nawawi, Al-Adzkar, [Cairo, Darul Hadith: 2003 M/1424 H], page 44).

 

That is the prayer after the call to prayer which is worth the reward of the Prophet Muhammad's intercession on the Day of Resurrection. Wallahu a'lam. (Alhafiz Kurniawan)
