Sudan's NU holds talks with minister of endowments

Sudan's Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs DR Muhammad Mustafa Al-Yakuti received a visit from Special Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCINU) of Sudan at the ministry's headquarters in Khartoum on Wednesday (9/1).<>

Present also tt the meeting were Supreme Council (mustasyar) of PCINU DR Muhammad Sulaiman who is also Chairman of the Preaching Council of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Chairman of the Advisory Board (syuriyah) of PCINU Mirwan Akhmad Taufiq, Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board Abdussalam, Deputy Secretary of the Advisory Board Zainul Alim and Lian Fuad.

Mirwan expressed gratitude to the minister for warmly receiving the NU delegates and introduced Nahdhatul Ulama as the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization.

Mirwan also conveyed the idea of ​​an international Sufi gathering that will be organized by the Jam'iyyah Ahlit Thoriqoh al-Mu'tabaroh an -Nahdliyah (a sufi order organization recognized by NU) in the Jakarta's Borobudur Hotel in the near Future.

NU is a religious social organization with some 90 followers. The organization aims to keep preserving and maintaining the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah and has institutions and committees, including, Jam'iyyah Ahlit Thoriqoh al-Mu'tabaroh an-Nahdliyah which is engaged in sufi orders (tariqa) in Indonesia which is currently led by Habib Ali Lutfi bin Yahya.

Following up an international Sufi gathering in Malang, Mirwan added, the NU Islamic scholars (ulema) agreed to make a worldwide tariqa network called "Majma 'As-Sufi al-Alami", which is aimed at further cultivating relationship, uniting sufi orders in different parts of the world that have not been well-organized in addition to propagating the teachings of Islam and helping create world peace.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs also conveyed a sense of happiness and pleasure for knowing significant roles played by NU in propagating the teachings of Aswaja in Indonesia.
