NU calls for millennial approaches in Islamic propagation

Propagation

Jakarta, NU Online
The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) held a workshop on the theme, World Peace: Friendly and Tolerant Islamic Propagation through Social Media at the NU headquarters Jakarta recently.

NU Secretary General H Ahmad Helmy Faishal Zaini said the workshop was to provide an understanding for NU scholars considering the need for propagation in the millennial era to be carried out with millennial generation characteristics.

In addition, currently the millennial era that is familiar with technology and social media must be touched with the propagation services by utilizing social media.

Meanwhile the supreme leader (Rais Aam) of NU KH Miftakhul Akhyar explained the millennial approaches must be done anyway. The need for mastery of technology and social media must become the awareness of NU management and clerics for both the advancement and the strength of NU in the future.

Clerics and NU board members, he continued, should rethink their "comfort zone" in keeping up with any development within the country's largest muslim organization because there are many challenges that must be faced and resolved.

The workshop participants were NU board members either tanfidziyah and syuriyah at the regional level throughout Indonesia. The workshop became part of the pre-NU National Conference agenda which will take place early 2019.

The workshop was also attended by NU general chairman KH Said Aqil Siroj, Katib Syuriyah NU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, and such NU top figures as H Maksum Mahfoedz, H Bina Suhendra, H Eman Suryaman, H Andi Najmi and Isfah Abidal Aziz. (Kendi Setiawan/Masdar)
