Jakarta, NU Online

Prayer is a worship that must be carried out by every Muslim. Prayer itself is one of the pillars of Islam with five obligatory times that must be performed including fajr (dawn), dzuhur (midday), asr (afternoon), maghrib (sunset), and isya' (night). The five fardhu prayer times have a predetermined time according to the Shari'a (Islamic law). There is a beginning, where the prayer is not valid until the start of the time, and there is an end, where the prayer must be performed before the end of time.

This provision has been confirmed in Surah An-Nisa verse 103:

إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَٰبًا مَّوْقُوتًا

"Surely the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours as an obligation"

In the at-Taqrirot as-Sadidah fil Masa'il al-Mufidah written by Sheikh Hasan bin Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Kaff it is stated that the times for prayer must be divided into six parts. The six ones include prime time, optional time, permissible time, forbidden  time, time of urgency, and emergency time.

To provide guidance so that our prayers are on time and get the main time, here are the prayer times for several cities in Indonesia and its surroundings sourced from the Nahdlatul Ulama Falakiyah Institute (LFNU) of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).
