The Preaching Institution of Nahdlatul Ulama (LDNU) will hold a discussion taking up issues on Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) at the headquarters of the Central Board of Nadlatul Ulama (PBNU) on Wednesday (29/4).
Chairman of LDNU KH Nuril Huda said that the meeting was aimed at developing the role of dakwa (preaching) across the country especially in such areas as transmigration, employees, minority and workers.<>
Kiai Nuril said, in addition to being attended by some 150 LDNU cadres, the meeting would also be attended by two ministers, namely Manpower and Transmigration Minister Erman Suparno and State Minister for Accelerated Development of Disadvantaged Regions Lukman Edy.
"We want to restrengthen the teachings of Aswaja within society especially in transmigration and disadvantaged regions. That is why we invite and cooperate with the two ministers," Kiai Nuril said.
Kiai Nuril said, the meeting would also discuss a possible cooperation between LDNU and the two ministries, adding the program to recruit potential preachers was one of the efforts to empower people in the regions.
He expected similar religious forums to be able to play their important role in guiding people and be a means of sharing and communicating with one another.
Kiai Nuril said that since 2007 LDNU had started its training programs for preachers in transmigration regions such as Sumatera, Sulawesi, Kalimantan and Papua. (nam)
