Chief Tebuireng islamic boarding school KH Shalahuddin “Gus Sholah” Wahid said, Indonesia independence was great grace for Indonesia citizen. Therefore we must grateful for and filled the independence with positif things. 

“We can see that you get favors from Allah in the form education because of the independence. Therefore, the pleasure of getting education must be grateful. La in syakartum la azidannakum wa la in kafartum inna 'adzabi la syadid," he said.

The statement was delivered Gus Sholah when he was being a ceremony inspectur in the 73rd Indonesia Independence Day commemoration at Hasyim Asy’ari University campus (Unhasy) Jombang, east Java, on Friday (8/17).

Gus Sholah, who is grandchildren of KH Hasyim Asy’ari explained, before the Independence, the people life was worse than after, where not all people could access education, as mandated in The 1945 Constitution. There, mentioned that education aims to realize public prosperity and educate the life of nation. 

Hence, not wrong if it was said that the independence was rahmah from Allah. The independence was the effort from all Indonesia people. They had passed many obstacles, sacrified live, wealth, and time.  

Later, when national museum of KH Hasyim Asy’ari beside Hasyim Asy’ari university was opened, we would know how the history of Indonesia struggle easly, he added. 

Gus Sholah also mentions in his speech about time of the Independence and Indonesia was to be the unity state of Indonesia Republic was not the same. “Date August, 17, 1945 was the independence day while date August, 18, 1945 was the foundation of the unitary states of the Repubik of Indonesia (NKRI),” he said. 

Next, Gus Sholah advised, especially to Tebuireng santri and generally to Indonesia youth to be good human being and useful to others. This was quoted from five basic principles of Tebuireng, namely sincerity, honesty, responsibility, hard work, and tolerance. Therefore, Indonesia in the future would be better and more progressive.
