Chairman of the Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Malang, HM. Bibit Suprapto, appealed to all Nahdliyin (NU followers) across the region to always use good moral characters in politics as well as comply with the government's regulations.<>
"Our message is that all candidates will continue to use good moral in politics in addition to maintaining unity, complying with the existing rules and preventing from money politics," he told NU Online here recently.
"We know," he said, "money politics today has always taken place (on such a scale), and is very difficult to avoid. But for the candidates from NU, nominated by any party, please avoid money politics!"
He also called on the NU politicians to maintain unity, help create brotherhood among political cadres. For him, the principles of NU brotherhood (ukhuwah nahdliyah) formulated in 1985 by KH Ahmad Siddiq was very powerful to realize the unity of Islam, nation, and world peace.
"We have a principle which we call ukhuwah nahdliyah, consisting of ukhuwah Islamiyah (brotherhood among Muslims), ukhuwah wathoniah (brotherhood among people of the same nation), and ukhuwah insaniyah (brotherhood among all human beings)," he said.
"If all this is practiced, any dispute between the candidates of different parties is not going to happen. Moreover, the fellow NU candidates."
