Muslim group starts Ramadan earlier

Makassar, NU Online Although the government has yet to decide on when Ramadan will officially start, followers of the An Nadzir Muslim group in the South Sulawesi regency of Gowa will begin fasting on Thursday. The leader of the group, Lukman, said based on both mathematic calculations and moon sighting conducted over the past two weeks, Ramadan should have commenced at 4 p.m. local time on Wednesday, but was moved back to Thursday because the holy month should begin with pre-dawn meals.
