The Community Radio (RAKOM) Buntet Pesantren (Best FM), finished in 1st place in the audio feature competition held by the Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in collaboration with the Indonesian Community Radio Network (JRKI).<>

The award in the "Anti-Corruption" competition was announced at a launch of the commission's TV channel in addition to commemorating the Indonesian Independence Day anniversary in Kota Tua, Jakarta, Sunday (17/8).

Chairman of RAKOM Best FM, Ahmad Rovahan said he was proud of the achievement because the first place at the national competition was achieved by a radio station initiated by pesantren (Islamic boarding school).

He hoped that this award could be used as an encouragement to work better.

"Thank God, all this is nothing but an evidence of the pesantren's contribution. Hopefully with this award we could work better,"  Rovahan told NU Online by phone.

In the race followed by hundreds of RAKOMs across Indonesia, Best FM presented a public service advertisement (PSA) in the form of a feature on how open the principles of public financial reporting conducted by the mosque committees.

The work titled "Learning to be honest from the mosque committees" contains an interview about the announcement of revenue usually carried out by mosque committees before the Friday Prayer.

"At first we think it is unique, (because) the mosque committees were already committed to the principles of public openness of the (mosque) budget long before other institutions like the Commission. Why the traditions of announcing it usually made before the Friday Prayer are followed by other parties," he said.

Although, Rovahan added, the exemplary of the mosque committees was not necessarily technically followed, the spirit to be open in terms of public finance is done with full earnest and detailed.

"In this audio feature I also raise an interview about an event in a mosque, the mosque committees announced the incoming nominal budget in detail, such as five million IRD plus two Singapore dollars. Not only was the nominal announced, but also its kind in detailed," said Rovahan.

In addition to openly and in detail, according to Rovahan, the anti-corruption principle should also be supported by a strong appreciation of religious teachings, therefore, pesantren must directly involve themselves in the campaign against any corruption in Indonesia.

In addition to posititioning the Best FM in the first place, the race  also set three other RAKOMs as the winners such Taraktak FM West Sumatra, and the Wijaya FM Yogyakarta, K-FM Magelang.

The Winners got prizes of radio broadcasting equipment delivered directly by the commission's chairman Abraham Samad, Bambang Widjayanto, Adnan Pandu Praja, and its spokesman Johan Budi.
