The Special Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCINU) of Sudan held a religious gathering to discuss sufism (tasawuf) and Islam on Sunday (3/3) evening. Present at the occasion as speaker was the Sudan's Islamic scholar Sheikh Abdurahim Arrukaini who follows the Rukainiyah sufi order.<>

The forum was attended by participants from various countries in Asia and Africa such as Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Thailand and Indonesia.

The gathering began by performing the Maghrib prayer in congregation in the PCINU secretariat and was continued by reciting the so-called Maulid Barzanji.

Miftahudin Ahimi, Chairman of PCINU called for the importance of studying tasawuf because the one who takes fiqh and does not take tasawwuf, will become a fasiq.

Ahimi said the scholarly gathering was really important for those who want to get closer to God , adding that PCINU would always propagate Islamic teachings in accordance with Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdurahim expressing his happiness for being able to visit the PCINU secretariat said that the praise of the servant of God is divided into four, namely hamdul Hamidin, hamdusyakirin, hamdul khasirin and hamdul jahilin.

Then the scholar attending an international sufism in Jakarta in 2011 added that the Prophet Muhammad is a human being, but is free from error or sin (ma'sum).

The meeting was attended by some 70 students from five countries and closed by performing the Isha prayer in congregation.
