Aswaja, spirit of NU's struggle

An understanding of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah (Aswaja) by NU board members is essential for it is the spirit of struggle of NU clerics.<>

Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board (PCNU) of Kraksaan KH Ahmad Nasrallah Suja'i told NU Online here on Wednesday (6/2).

According to Kiai Suja'i, there had still been many Nahdliyin (NU followers) especially at village-level NU boards that do not understand about the teachings of Aswaja and belief systems both performed and preserved by NU clerics.

"Many Nahdliyin who do not know what NU is, so they feel embarrassed to be NU (follower). Hopefully, through this activity, Nahdliyin will understand about Aswaja and feel proud to be part of NU, "he said.

Even, in order to strengthen the NU's organizational base, he said, every NU board member should know and understand about administrative matters, including in preparing correspondence.

"We will continue to strive to strengthen the NU management primarily related to administrative and correspondence matters by village-level NU board members in each subdistrict-level NU board across Kraksaan distrcit," he said.

According to Suja'i, every NU board member should understand the Aswaja ideology embraced by the Nahdliyin-based organization in addition to knowing more about the NU management and organization.

"Hopefully the NU administrators will be able to strengthen and improve their understanding about the Aswaja so that they will be able to face any effort to obscure the ideology embraced by Nahdliyin," he concluded.
