IPNU-IPPNU congress kicks off

The 17th congress of Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) and the 16th congress of Nahdlatul Ulama Girl Students Association (IPPNU) were officially opened at the Palembang Hajj Dormitory, South Sumatra on Saturday (1/12). The opening was marked by drum beats by State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan.<>
Dahlan, on the occasion, was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Central Board of NU KH As'ad Said Ali, Chairman of NU Scholars Association (Ali Masykur Musa), Chairman of IPNU Ahmad Syauqi and Chairwoman of IPPNU Margaret Aliyatul M.
Also present at the opening were Chairmn of Lawmaking Body of the South Sumatra's Regional Board of NU KH Mudaris, Assistant Governor of South Sumatra Ahmad Najib, NU board members and local officials.
The opening was attended by some 4000 members of IPNU-IPPNU throughout Indonesia. The theme of the congress was "Education for All, Towards National Independence".
