NU and Qatar collaborate to build 100 mosques and hospitals in Indonesia

The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) collaborated with the Qatar Royal Family Council to build 100 mosques and 10 hospitals in Indonesia.
General Chairman of PBNU KH Said Aqil Sirodj said that the construction of 100 mosques and 10 hospitals would be carried out in areas of greatest need.
"There are guests from Qatar, that will cooperate with PBNU, including building 100 mosques and 10 hospitals in Indonesia," said Kiai Said at the Islamic University of Malang (UNISMA), East Java, Sunday (12/5/2021).
The construction of 100 mosques and 10 hospitals will be carried out in Nahdlatul Ulama branches spread across Indonesia.
"I think it's enough for Java, (let's) focus on outside Java, in which areas need mosques and hospitals," added Kiai Said.
The leader of the Al-Tsaqafah Islamic Boarding School in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, added that the cooperation with Qatar was one of the efforts to build a better civilization of the Islamic world. Therefore, the construction of mosques and hospitals would be placed in areas of greatest need.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Qatar Royal Family Council, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman Hassan Al-Thani, said the collaboration with PBNU was one of the efforts to build leadership in Islam.
"We hope that leaders from the Islamic world will emerge. Because Islam invites unity. Therefore, we intend to work with PBNU to build leadership in Islam," said Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, the rector of the Islamic University of Malang (Unisma) Prof. Dr. Maskuri added that the plan to build mosques and hospitals would be distributed directly by PBNU.
"Later, it will be distributed directly by PBNU. Qatar is very close to Indonesia and very concerned," said Masykuri.
