Some time ago, a logo of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) was raised side by side with the red and white flag on the summit of Mt. Merapi.<>

For a mountaineer, momentum of raising the flag when he reaches its highest peak is one of the proud moments. Moreover, if the flag is his pride.

The moment was felt by a group of climbers from Banser Solo. A tiring journey from Basecamp New Selo Boyolali, was paid off when he saw the flag formed of a representation of the earth surrounded by a ribbon and nine stars flying on the peak of Mt. Merapi.

One of the Banser Solo's climbing team, Muharrom Fajar Adi, said that he had some of the time raised the the NU flag on the highest peak of mountains.

"It is often, sometimes (I raised the NU flag) twice a month," he told NU Online here recently.

Besides Mt. Merapi , the mountains which they successfully conquered are, among others, Merbabu, Lawu, Sindoro, Sumbing, and Slamet.

"God willing this (year's) December, we plan to (conquer) Mt. Semeru," he added.

All this was done because he and his friends have an obsession to fly the NU and national flags on all the mountain tops.

"By climbing the mountain we could further love the God's creatures and show that NU is timeless, enduring forever on Mother Earth," he said.
