Member of the Advisory Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH As'ad Said Ali attended a loyalty-to-homeland rally held by the East Java's Regional Board of NU at the Pancer Door beach Pacitan, East Java over the weekend.

The deputy chairman of NU for the 2010-2015 period said that the Western model of tolerance was not the best one applied in the country for not being in accordance with the values of tolerance having so far been maintained and preserved by NU.

"The Western model of tolerance all is free. All religions are free, including an insult to the religion of others, and blasphemy against God. That is the Western model of tolerance. But we are different, we have Pancasila that is not like that. We are unity in diversity," he said in front of some 10 thousand NU cadres NU throughout East Java participating in the momentous event.

The state, the former deputy head of BIN said, must take part in making firm rules or laws to regulate traffic signs of interaction among religious communities and tribes in Indonesia.

"The state whose Pancasila now is like a house. After 1998, due to the liberation of politics, and the Western pressure once again due to the Western pressure, our home and its door has been opened,"he said, adding that all important sectors in the country had also been under the control of other parties.

Therefore, NU along with the state are ready to uphold tolerance with mutually agreed rules. NU is ready to build a new vision in accordance with the NU attitude of tolerance (tasamuh).
