NU provides shelters for humanitarian relief in Aceh

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) through the Institute for Disaster Management and Climate Change Nahdlatul Ulama (LPBINU) has opened four shelters for humanitarian relief in Aceh to help the earthquake victims. The fourth shelters are located in Pidie Jaya in Merdeu, Bireuen and Banda Aceh.

The chairman of NU chapter of Aceh, TGK H Faisal Ali said that the shelters in place were to give assistance to the affected area.

"Short after the incident, NU Aceh provided assistance such as food and opened shelters and public kitchens to help the affected communities," said TGK H Faisal Ali in Banda Aceh.

According to Ali, the LPBINU on December 10, 2016 provided assistance to the earthquake affected people in the form of medical equipment or a 150 Hygiene Kits package for refugees.

"This assistance is urgently needed and does help people affected by the earthquake," he added.

The coordinator of Emergency Response Team of LPBINU Yulistianto said that following assessment by a team of NU Aceh, LPBINU had provided assistance to people affected by the earthquake in Pidie Jaya. This assistance was intended as an additional one for previousLY, NU Aceh had provided some assistance.

"We hope that the incident did not cause frustration for the people affected, but is able to arouse the awareness of all parties that the capacity of environment in ??Pidie Jaya has increasingly been degraded, and is in need of efforts to save the environment while continuing to increase devotion to God Almighty," said TGK H Nuruzzahri Yahya, chairman of Lawmaking boding of NU Aceh while giving Hygiene Kits at Pesantren Al Hijrah, Gampong Tuha Mosque, Meureudu, Aceh.
