The central board of Nahdlatul Ulama welcomed a visit from running mate, Prabowo Subianto (presidential candidate) and Sandiaga Uno (vice president candidate) at PBNU Building, in Jakarta, Thursday (8/16). The meeting closed to media.
After meeting, general chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Said Aqil Siroj said, he was glad getting a visit from Prabowo Subiantto-Sandiaga Uno. “We are happy and thankful getting guest arrival Mr Prabowo and Mr Sandiaga Uno,” Kia Said talked to media.
Kiai Said shared the contents of meeting. According to him, the meeting was running full of relax, even lots of jokes.
“We joke, not tense. That is expressing we are relaxing,” Kiai Said, who was born in Kempek Cirebon, west Java, explained
The statemen from Kiai Said was justified by Prabowo Subianto. According to him, the meeting, taking place in 3rd floor was openly. Both parts each other asked questions and explained the state of the nation.
“I think ‘the meeting’ it’s pretty good. I think it is what we want (relax). I thank NU for receiving so well,” Prabowo said.
He said, NU was not unfamiliar to him because he has known NU figures since long time, even he had close relationship with Gus Dur, KH Hasyim Muzadi, until Kiai Said.
Kiai Said hoped presidential election would run well and put forward morals.
“let’s do politics with dignity, cultured, and to have high moral standard,” Kiai Said talked.
He reminded Prabowo-Sandiaga to have a good intention in the presidential election competition. “intention for the people, for the marginal community, how to increase the national dignity, decrease poverty, and solidite unity the nation,” Kiai Said explained.
While Prabowo felt challenged from the NU hopes.
“This is a challenge. NU leaders put a hope to us as president and vice president candidate in the election by the people,” he said.
Economi inequality that happened in Indonesia was being a discussion in the meeting. Prabowo put forward NU messages to himself, namely eliminating poverty.
“We are reminded to think and formulate how to overcome economic difficulties,” he said.
