Madurese poet, D Zawawi Imron said that Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) had been littered with high value legacies for human personality. Experiences and lessons maintained and preserved in pesantren are to educate its members to be humble.<>
"Please think with a clear mind for it will always hold goodness in your heart," said Zawawi translating a Madurese poem on the sidelines of a meeting to commemorate the NU Online's 10th anniversary in Jakarta, Thursday (28/3).
According to the poet well-known as "golden sickle", the poem has a message encouraging indivuduals to be gentle and open-minded.
"The heart that is covered with the goodness of a single hair will not have any hatred towards anyone for having no time to slander others," he added.
As a person 'born' in pesantren, Zawawi said he was proud to be an artist for getting healthy spiritual education in the religious institution.
"Being an artist I am very happy. Because being an artist, I feel lost despite being on the right path, "he said, drowned out by audience laughter.
