Department of Religious Affairs pledges to develop Private Islamic School

Department of Religious Affairs (Depag) pledged to prioritize the development of private elementary (SD), secondary (MTs), and Islamic Senior High schools (MA).
The statement above was said by the Director General of Depag's Islamic Educational affairs Yahya Umar Said before participants of the National Assembly and Major Conference of NU in Surabaya, Friday (28/7).
<>“There is no difference between state and private. facilities such as teacher, building, book, provided by Depag will be evenly distributed. So, there is no such efforts to make private as state, though there have been about 600 madrasas standing in line to pursue state schools,” Yahya Umar said, representing Minister of Religious Affairs Maftuh Basyuni.
The strategic program planned by the Depag to pay more attention to private schools was aimed at decreasing the dependence of state schools.
He said Depag has received educational assistance from Australia, namely the construction of Islamic Junior High schools (MTs) amounted to 450. 442 of the assistance will be distributed to private schools and 8 others to state ones. (nam)
