Papua Governor Barnabas Suebu has made a commitment to improving the quality of nine-year basic education in the province.
"We allocate more fund from Special Autonomy budget this year to improve the quality of education in remote villages in the Indonesia’s easternmost province of Papua," the governor said here on Monday.
<>Suebu admitted that the quality of basic education in remote villages in the province was worse than that in the cities and towns.
Therefore, he expressed hope that more fund from Special Autonomy budget would be spent on the improvement of education in the province’s rural hinterland.
He added that 30 percent of the Rp3.2 trillion in this year Special Autonomy budget for Papua was allocated for education sector and 15 percent for health sector. (ant/dar)
