Once again, General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi has asserted that NU wouldn’t involve itself in a new political group called as the Ulema National Awakening Party (PKNU).
“PBNU won’t involve in it (PKNU), do not ask me about it,”Hasyim said while speaking at a meeting held by Jakarta’s NU Women Organization (Muslimat NU) in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/11).
<>The Former Chairman of East Java’s NU added that the country’s largest Muslim organization had no such authority related to the formation of the nahdliyin (NU followers)-based political party.As reported by NU Online Hasyim said that the nahdliyin (NU followers) had the rights to vote and determine their own political interests. “NU followers have freely choice, every body can join, no barriers for those willing to join the PKNU,” he said.
In Tuban, East Java, on the 21st of November, a meeting of senior clerics at an Islamic boarding school brought the new party into being. (rif)
