Inter-faith leaders remember Gus Dur as a pluralist leader

Amid the recent religious based violence, hundreds of people commemorate the death of former president KH Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid, " the hero of pluralism".
The people from diverse religious backgrounds gathered in the late Gus Dur's residence on Jl. Warung Sila , Ciganjur, South Jakarta, on Friday.
Gus Dur passed away on Dec. 30, two years ago.
Among the guests in the commemoration were Constitutional Court chief Mahfud MD, former House of Representatives speaker Akbar Tanjung and Religious Affairs Deputy Minister Nasarudin Umar.
The commemoration was opened with prayers from religious leaders of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism and Bahai.
Some guests including human rights activist Usman Hamid, political expert Yudi Latief, gave testimonies to remember Gus Dur. (dar)
