The country’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in collaboration with Iran has agreed to reduce Middle East sectarian conflict between Sunni and Shi’ite. Both are determined to be in unity under the umbrella of what called as ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood).
The statement above was said by the General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) at the NU office on Tuesday (6/3) following his meeting with Iran Supreme Court Syeikh Ayatllah Syahroudi in Tehran several days ago.
He asserted that his visit to the country of Mullah was aimed at seeking brilliant measures in addressing the constantly conflict.
Hasyim who is now also the Secretary General of International Conference of Islamic Scholars delivered ideas and the support of the Republic of Indonesia over the Iran nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
“I asserted that NU, parliament and the government of the Republic of Indonesia have supported Iran rights to use the nuclear technology for peaceful purposes,” Hasyim said. (rif)
