The accords signed between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago, aimed at unifying gas reserves in the bordering zone, emerge Wednesday as an element to favor energy cooperation among neighboring nations.
Trinidad Prime Minister Patrick Manning and the Republic"s President Hugo Chavez inked an accord related to the use hydrocarbon fields.<>
The Unification Treaty established general principles of unifications of all fields beyond the countries" border and apply all existing hydrocarbons, including oil, condensed natural gas and liquids extracted from gas.
Benefits and costs will be distributed according to percentages of participation of each State in those fields, to ensure national policies and contents for the development of both nations.
The aim of both states is to seek an alliance to enter the Caribbean nation into the Organization of Gas Producing and Exporting Countries of South America, an initiative that involves Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia.
After talking in the act of signing the accord, Chavez stated that Trinidad and Tobago, in addition of gas, has an extraordinary advance in processing hydrocarbon and the capacity to place it in markets. (pl/dar)
