General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers’ Organization Asep Syaifuddin has expressed his hope that the organization would expectedly attain full legality from the country’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) as either an autonomous body or association.
“Wahtever its form, the important thing is that this (Pergunu) is legal and may do better things for NU educational world,” kiai Asep told NU Online here on Tuesday (28/11).
He added that there had been so far 18 regional boards and hundreds of branches.
“We had conducted pra-national meeting and national meeting to prepare the establishment of the Pergunu. Unfortunately, it was blocked in the congress without thorough reasons,” he said.
At the NU 31st congress at the Asrama Haji, Donohudan, Solo, the status of the Pergunu remained unclear and was handed over to the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) to seek the best solution. In turn, the nahdliyin organization urged the NU Ma’arif Educational Institution to set forward several reasons. Till now, he said, the expected solutions remained obscure. (mkf)
