"First of all, I personally offer my condolences and pray that he earned a special place in the sight of Allah SWT," KH M Hasan Mutawakkil Alallah said here on Monday (7/9).
According to the chairman of East Java's Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU), Kiai Muchit is a good fighter in the organization (Jam'iyyah) of NU and for the nation.
"He has has carved gold ink (legacies) for his best services to the nation," Kiai Mutawakkil said, adding that Kiai Muchit had often involved himself in many NU important decisions such as the NU acceptance of Pancasila as the only idelogy.
As known, in the time some socio-religious organizations were still hesitant in accepting Pncasila as the state idelogy.
"He (Kiai Muchit Muzadi) was the figure recording and perfecting the concept of NU acceptance of the only principle," he said.
"What is also very monumental is that he was involved in the decision to bring NU back to the 1926 Khittah," said the leader of Pesantren Zainul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo, adding that with such decision, the NU presence could be felt not only for Nahdliyin (NU followers), but also for the Indonesian nation.
Kiai Mutawakkil also said that he had often asked for consideration to Kiai Muchit, including when he accepted the mandate as chairman of the East Java's PWNU.
"He encouraged me to accept the mandate to serve NU," he said.
"At that time he reminded that my grandfather Muhammad Hasan had involved in the establishment of NU, the Hijaz Committee and the fight against the invaders," he said, adding that Kiai Muchit had convinced him that there was NU blood on himself so "it is appropriate to give my best services to NU."
Kiai Mutawakkil was also very impressed with Kiai Muchit.
"Although he is old and his physical condition is frail, he has always kept attending NU important meetings," he said, adding that every time he met, the face of Kiai Muchit was always bright and shining."
"Finding the same figure after his death is, I think, really difficult," he admitted, saying "Nevertheless, NU activists should be able to imitate the gait and figure of Kiai Muchit particularly in doing their best to NU sincerely." (masdar)
