Participant told to realize mabadi' khoiro ummah

Deputy Chairman of Lawmaking Council (Rais Aam) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Miftachul Akhyar called for the importance of all NU board members to implement various programs and policies of the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization,

"Ladies and gentlemen, we all NU board members are obliged to be capable of implementing programs that are in accordance with the NU goals and ideals as stipulated in the so-called Qanun Asasi the decisions of the organization," Kiai Miftakh said before nearly 2,000 attendees at the NU Plenary Session arena, pesantren Kiai Haji Aqil Siroj, Kempek, Cirebon, Sunday (24/7).

According to Kiai Miftah, the NU programs  are intended to maintained the social benefit in addition to addressing the need of human goodness as contained in the NU concept of Mabadi Khaira Ummah (the principles of creating public goodness).

Kiai Miftahk also called on the Kempek's participants to make concrete programs aimed at creating a fair and prosperous society, saying that the mabadi khoiro ummah were, among others, honesty, fairness, trustworthiness, mutual assistance, istiqamah and so on.

According to him, the main reasons both weakening the strength of Muslims to enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong (amar maruf nahi munkar) and upholding the greatness of Islam are pauperism, ignorance, and weaknesses in various fields, especially economy. In turn, they could not carry out their duties as the socalled khaira ummah, the best community.

"That is why we as NU board members with all the ability and power should be capable of running the mandate of the organization in the Mabadi Khaira Ummah and translating it into a concrete program," Kiai Miftakh said. (Alhafiz K/Masdar)
