Thirty-nine Indonesian teenagers have been found to be illegally staying in Egypt following an empty promise from their agents that they can study at Al Azhar University without an admissions test.
The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo said in a press statement on Monday the 39 teenagers had paid Rp 17 million (US$1,900) each to the agents to study at the university.<>
The agents said the teenagers would enter the university without a test, and get a US$50 allowance per person every month during their study period, but it turned out to be false.
The embassy will give protection to the 39 unfortunate teenagers, and will take a legal action against the agents. (jp/dar)
