The Nahdlatul Ulama youth organization, Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor) has alrealy started working following the signing of a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GP Ansor and the Ministry of Environment. The youth organization then expected to the West Java’s Ansor to undertake the casuarina planting along the Pangandaran coast.
Chairman of the West Java’s Ansor, Dr Ali Anwar Yusuf said his organization would technically hand over the program of the casuarinas planting to Banser (paramilitary force of Nahdlatul Ulama). As for him, four branch boards would be involved in the purposeful program, namely Tasikmalaya town, Tasikmalaya regency, Ciamis, and Banjar’s Ansor.
Kang Ali admitted he didn’t know exactly when the program started. “We have not got guidance yet (from Ansor),” he added.
At the same time, the Secretary General of the GP Ansor, A Malik Haramain suggested that he would first of all form a team to implement the MoU. He said the casuarina planting along the Pangandaran coast may be regarded as a test that should be expectedly an example following the coming steps.
Malik also stressed that efforts to maintain and preserve the environment driven by his organization would be a good example for nahdliyin (NU followers). “We expected the nahdliyin to participate actively (in the program). (rif)
