Australian prime minister's visit to PBNU to strengthen cooperation

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd would reportedly visit the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) on coming Friday (13/6) to strengthen and follow up cooperation having so far been fostered.
His first coming to the PBNU headquarters was part of his Indonesia's visit to have meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.<>
Rudd would also be scheduled to visit Aceh that has received much relief from his country following the tsunami disaster hitting the region in December 2004.
As reported, Rudd along with General Chairman of the PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on agreed sectors including disaster management, governance, basic education, and health.
The MoU is aimed at deepening partnership and strengthening ties between the two parties as part of what called as New Australian-Indonesian Country Strategy.
Program Manager of the Community Based-Disaster Risk Management of Nahdlatul Ulama (CBDRMNU) told NU Online here on Tuesday (10/6) that his institution had deepened its purposeful partnership with Australian government through the AusAids on Islamic boarding school-based disaster risk management.
