Residents of Mijen village in Kudus have prohibited cleric Abu Bakar Ba'asyir from leading the funeral of terrorist Bagus Budi Pranoto alias Urwah.
"We welcome the cleric attending the funeral but not leading it," village head Sujono said Wednesday.<>
Head of Kudus Police Adj. Snr. Comr. Bayu Wisnumurti said his office would deploy several officers to ensure the funeral proceeded smoothly.
Urwah's father, Ismanto, said the family had yet to decide when it would hold the funeral, pending completion of the identification process by the police.
"The police have yet to inform us when can we pick up Urwah's body," Ismanto told tempointeraktif.com.
Urwah was killed along with high-profile terrorist Noordin M. Top two weeks ago in Mojosongo, Surakarta during a raid by the Detachment 88 counterterrorism squad. (jp/dar)
