Biography of KH Tolhah Hasan launched

The biography of KH Tolhah Hasan entitled Multitalent Cleric was launched here on Friday. This special day also marked his 70th anniversary.

Writing team chief of the biography Prof Dr Nazaruddin Umar admitted the title of the book was based primarily on his multicapability that could be able to color his all institutions.<>

The top official of the Religious Ministry said he was personally inspired by the Kiai Tolhah’s insights in especially empowering mosques by saying that the Muslim’s holy places had significant contribution in empowering their social surroundings especially pedicap drivers as seen in Malang.

Many suggested that he was not only an expert of Islamic religious studies but also a broad-minded businessman. So it’s not surprised if he could empower his all educational institutions such as Islamic boarding “pesantren” schools, Junior/senior high schools, universities, and so on.

We can say that some of his successful educational institutions were namely Islamic University of Malang (Unisma), most-prospective Sabilillah School of Malang, Batam Mosque's Library, and what called as Ummatan Wasathan in Riau.

Present on the occasion, General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi, the caretaker of Tebu Ireng Pesantren KH Salahuddin Wahid, Utomo Dananjaya, Komaruddin Hidayat, and his other top officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. (mkf)
