Hasyim shocked to learn his statement on BLBI case used as advertisement

KH Hasyim Muzadi, General Chairman of the Indonesia’s biggest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama, was shocked to learn that his statement was used as an advertisement on the eradication and settlement of Bank Indonesia liquidity assistance (BLBI) cases.
"I was shocked as it is improper to advertise one’s statement on BLBI," he said after delivering an address in commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s Ascension here on Monday evening.<>
Earlier there was a jihad to eradicate and settle BLBI cases carried by some mass media by quoting Hasyim Muzadi’s statement.
Furthermore, Hasyim explained that he had seen some community leaders signing a statement to eradicate BLBI-related cases.
"I saw some leaders sign a joint statement and those friends are kind to me. The content calls on the government to immediately settle BLBI cases," Hasyim said.
Therefore, he joined the signing of the statement. But, to my surprise, his statement appeared in the papers as advertisement.
"My statement should be provided to the relevant BLBI-related parties and not for advertisement," Hasyim was quoted by the state news agency as saying.
It was for that purpose that Hasyim has written some media which had advertised his statement. (dar)
