The third International Conference of Islamic Scholars (ICIS) has now mapped the roots of conflict in the Muslim world to formulate such recommendation in helping address the conflict.
"I hope there will immediately be solution (for the conflict)," General Secretary of the ICIS KH Hasyim Muzadi said on the sidelines of the world forum at the Jakarta's Borobudur Hotel on Thursday (31/7). <<>;br />
Hasyim said, through the intensive meetings and negotiations among participants of the conference, there were many root problems triggering the conflict.
The president of the World Conference of Religions for Peace (WCRP) cited the root problems could be from "religion, local culture and agressions."
Hasyim said the most important thing in the conference was that all participants would have such shared vision in dealing with various emerging issues based on their objectivity rather than their own interests.
This conference has been attended by some 350 participants from 70 countries. They are Islamic scholars (ulema), academics, observers, practitioners of multi-ethnic conflict resolution and many other circles throughout the world.
The conference is aimed at creating cooperation and solidarity to build peace and to prevent conflicts, especially in the Muslim World, through transformation of Islamic values as Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin in the life of society and state. (dar)
