General Chairman of Golkar Party Jusuf Kalla has instructed all his cadres to declare war against land profiteers of land clearence for the East canal development in Jakarta.
"Let us as cadres of the party help reach quick settlement of land clearance to accelerate the development of the canal," said Kalla when releasing his party’s volunteers here on Sunday.<>
On the occasion, Jusuf Kalla instructed the politicians of his party to step up the construction of the East Canal.
"Where are our cadres supposed to help land clearence," Jusuf Kalla pointed out.
According to him, actually Indonesia would never suffer from lack of fund or political will. "What is happening is just constraints in land clearance."
"The grand effort is to jointly build Jakarta by improving the development of infrastructure. The funding is already available and the willingness is also there, but they are facing difficulties in land clearance," Kalla was quoted by the state news agency as saying.
Furthermore, he explained that if the East Canal project could be completed on time, threats like floods would be easily coped with.
On the occasion, Kalla also called on all segment of Jakarta residents to build water absorbing wells in their houses. Other efforts were also made including accelarating the construction of a 1000 residential towers. (dar)
