Mbah Muchit: NU leadership should have spirit of devotion

The Supreme Council of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Muchit Muzadi called on NU followers (Nahdliyin) especially its leaders and activists in any level and activity to be able to grasp and rethink the initial spirit of the establishment of NU that is full of devotion and struggle.
He told NU Online on Wednesday and expressed his deeply concern over the scene in which some NU followers had taken advantages from the organization for their own interests.<>
"NU has big potentials but it has also big problems. For that reason it is really necessary to have such men whose high dedication and integrity," he said.
He further argued that NU could develop for the high dedication of the NU figures such as Hadratus Sheikh KH Hasyim Asy'ari, KH Wahab Hasbullah, KH Asnawi Kudus and any other NU clerics devoting themselves to the interest of the Nahdliyin-based organization.
The santri (student) of KH Hasyim Asy'ari also added that all NU followers should again and again review and rethink the organization historical traces in awakening the spirit of struggle of theirs.
"By understanding NU, they (Nahdliyin) will be able to position it respectfully and have courage to take measures and responsibility," Kiai Muchit said. (mdz)
