Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa confirmed on Friday that United States President Barack Obama would visit Indonesia in November, 2010.
"There is no change in the schedule of Obama`s planned visit to Indonesia. The US government still is planning the visit in November 2010," the foreign minister said here on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.<>
He said that Obama`s previous planned visit to Indonesia was postponed due to his tight schedule.
"In November, Obama`s plan to visit Indonesia must also be adjusted to his tour to attend the G-20 meeting in Seoul and APEC meeting in Yokohama, and must also be adjusted to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s schedules," he said.
Marty said that the planned visit was important for Indonesia and the United States, for the openness of their relations, mutual beneficial cooperation and trust building between the two nations in the wider sense.
"So far, we have prepared well for Obama`s visit. What remains to be done is to adjust the two presidents` schedules," Marty said.
Last March, Obama postponed his planned visit to Indonesia due to complaint by Democrat Party legislators regarding the accelerated voting on a health bill.
In June, Obama also postponed his planned tour of Indonesia as a result of an oil spill in the Mexico Bay.
"We cannot yet ascertain the date of Obama`s visit in November but November 9 and 10 could be the appropriate days for Obama and Yudhoyono`s meeting agenda," the foreign minister said. (dar)
