"This program is designed to promote Taiwan to the world. Through this trip, we want to show Taiwan as a democratic country with economically prosperous prospects," the head of Taiwan`s Trade and Economic Office (TETO), Andrew Hsia, said here on Wednesday during a meeting with the nine Indonesian scholars.
He expressed hope that the participants from Indonesia would be good ambassador to Taiwan by sharing their trip`s experience to their friends and relatives in Indonesia.
Syaiful, one of the nine scholars to visit Taiwan, expressed appreciation to Taiwan for their invitation to visit the country.
"Indonesia-Taiwan relations must not stop only in the trade sector. I can see that this visiting program is one of the examples of Taiwan`s effort to begin a new sector of cooperation specifically in people to people contact and I really appreciate it," said Syaiful.
