Though Indonesia is considered the world's most populous Muslim-majority country, it has still faced a serious problem especially in fighting against corruption which has made people continuously suffering.
General chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) even viewed that the corruption had become such ideology because people have now no longer pursued a position to get average salaries. Instead, they have tended to get income outside their official salaries by making use of their position to violate any emerging regulations and laws.<>
"Corruption has now become ideology. People tend to make use their position to pursue their own personal welfare," Hasyim told NU Online here on Tuesday.
In this regard, Hasyim said that it's now more difficult to find clean men than corrupters, adding that there were some 10 percent of those could be considered 'white' from such attitude.
Not surprisingly, he said, officials who have now screamed to combat corruption could possibly be the ones involved in the corruption. (mkf)
