Inddonesia is in need of seeing investment potentials from Middle East countries to enhance developments in the country as such alternative of the uncertainty of investment from West countries.
Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Prof Dr Masykuri Abdillah told NU Online here on Friday (14/3).<>
According to Masykuri, it is now a good time to see the potentials of investment coming from the Middle East countries. "More over amid the world oil price rise, they have a lot of money that should be invested," he said.
Masykuri said there was such a rule that should be set up in attracting investors from the Middle East countries to invest in Indonesia, namely syariah-based rule. Though syariah-based financial companies have now developed, but Indonesia has still left behing its neighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore.
He added, the Middle East's investors had also faced obstacles to invest their money in West countries following Islamphobia in the countries.
As the Indonesian biggest Muslim orgnaisation, NU has taken efforts to meet the goal. For instance General Chairman of the PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi has many times visited Middle East countries to at least promote economic potentials belonging to the Nahdlyin-based organization. (mkf)
