The Nahldalul Ulama Committee of Astrology (LFNU) would anticipate any existing possibilities related to the settlement of the beginning of holy month Ramdhan and Idul Fitri this year.

Chairman of the LFNU KH A Ghazali Masroeri said here Saturday that his organization would hold a national meeting for astrologers as a brilliant measure to OK in finding same views on what called as Falakiyah.<>

Kiai Ghozali said the LFNU would first of all gather alumni of the Semarang's Education and Training for Rukyat Practitioners to be then trained and mandated to conduct a rukyat (determining date by sighting of moon especially to fix the beginning and end of fasting period).

The meeting would reportedly involve astrologers or experts representing any other mass organizations.

The LFNU, Kiai Ghozali said, would make further communication with LFNUs of regional and branch boards aimed at anticipating any dissenting opinion.

"This (meeting) is not aimed at restricting them (participants) to express their opinion, but at least there would be such a coordination from the boards. so if a chairman of the LFNU is asked about a matter, he will understand matters dealing with technques of falakiyah and training development plans in each region," Kiai Ghozali said.

He explained that the LFNU had so far held meetings with other Islamic organizations to take up problems dealt with falakiyah issues. Unfortunately, Kiai Ghozalie added, the organizations had no such attention to the importance of falakiyah.

Kiai Ghozali said that the LFNU had some of the time given critics and feedbacks to the organizations and called for further collaboration in evolving the falakiyah. (nim)
